Before we discuss New Year’s house painting resolution ideas, we’d like to thank all of you, our loyal customers, for making this year a fantastic one for our Surrey painting company. We are extremely grateful that many people looking for painting services in 2016 chose Blue Chip Painting. We hope the holidays and the coming year will bring you and your family good health and much happiness.

With 2016 drawing to a close, our thoughts naturally go to the coming year and what it may bring. While you’re making your personal list of resolutions for 2017, consider creating a “house painting resolutions” list. The New Year is a great time to begin planning your home painting projects, and, the perfect time to book Surrey painters for spring work. If you contact us with your painting wish list just before the spring season, you may be disappointed to find that our schedule is full. However, if you book your spring painting in January or February, we’ll be able to schedule your project in advance and ensure that we are available for you.

Make a House Painting List and Check It Twice

All good resolutions begin with a list. The easiest way to divide your house painting list is by interior and exterior, and then divide interior painting by room.

Exterior Painting Jobs

  • Siding
  • Stucco
  • Soffits
  • Fascia
  • Window trim
  • Door trim
  • Stairs
  • Decks, porch, or veranda
  • Railings
  • Fences

Don’t forget the garage or shed exterior and trim!

Interior Painting Jobs

  • Entrance/foyer
  • Living room
  • Den
  • Kitchen
  • Bathrooms
  • Bedrooms
  • Stairs, banisters and railings

Further divide all of the above interior painting jobs into:

  • Walls
  • Floor and ceiling trim
  • Window molding/casements
  • Doors and door trim
  • Shelves and cabinets

Divide and Conquer those Painting Jobs

While many painters in Surrey will recommend that you do all interior, or all exterior work at one time, it isn’t necessary. In fact, undertaking a full interior or exterior makeover may be too disruptive for a busy family. It’s just as effective, and may be more manageable for the budget-conscious, to tackle smaller jobs within your big list. Divide and conquer.

As the philosopher, Lao Tzu, said: “Every journey begins with a single step”. You can more easily achieve the pinnacle of your painting goal (the entire list) by keeping it in mind while moving toward it a “single step” (or a few steps) at a time, hiring Blue Chip to complete smaller jobs within that list.

Divide interior painting
In many homes the living room and kitchen are a great place to start, because that is where families and their guests spend a lot of time. Starting there will have the most immediate impact on your enjoyment. You could then move on to bedrooms, then hallways, stairs, banisters and trim.

Divide exterior painting
Your exterior painting wish list can also be approached a small step, or a few steps, at a time. For example, you could begin with siding and trim, which has the most immediate aesthetic impact. Then, move down the list to items that are less visible, though important nonetheless.
