Fall is upon us. The window for hiring surrey painters to paint the outside of your house has come and gone. That’s ok, we are now filling up our interior Fall painting schedule, so it is a great time to consider doing some indoor painting. When was the last time you had the inside of your home painted?
The outside of the house tends to get the most attention when it comes to painting, because exterior paint not only makes the house look good, but also protects the surfaces from the rain and the sun.
Indoor surfaces tend to get abused too. Chips in the baseboards from the vacuum, nicks and dings and holes in the walls from hanging pictures and moving things around. Why do they make drywall so soft? Have you ever wondered that? Maybe if you worked it everyday like me you might. It is interesting to me that walls aren’t made from something a little more durable so that they don’t chip and scratch as easily. Anyway…
Surrey painters tend to be less busy at this time of year. That means it is a great time to consider doing some indoor painting and getting all those nicks and dings repaired. While you’re at it, why not consider changing the colour? Lighter colours are in style these days. Off-whites are really helping to brighten up the interior spaces.
Oxford white is a beautiful option, it has a very slight hint of creaminess to it to remove the starkness of straight white paint, but not enough to make it yellow. Painters in Surrey BC use this colour on ceilings, walls, trim, doors, and even in kitchen cabinet refinishing.
Do you have a large house with lots of open space and a brown tone floor but really like the idea of gray walls? Agreeable Gray from Sherwin Williams is a great option for your walls. Somehow, they made a warm, brownish gray. You must see it to understand, but it is a very nice colour and it gets used quite a bit.
Between November and April is the best time to paint inside. While Surrey painters are filling up their interior fall painting schedule, prices tend to be a little lower during these months. But don’t tell anyone I told you . With the hecticness of the outdoor season being over, things get a bit quieter for painters in Surrey BC, so costs sometimes come down a little bit.
Who would you hire to do your painting? Have you hired a painter before? Were you happy with their work? When considering all the painters out there, what criteria would you use to make your choice?
May I give you a bit of advice?
- Consider how long the company has been in business. Everyone must start somewhere, but painters come and go, and boy there are a lot of us.
- Does the company warranty their work? Is it in writing? Is their warranty on their website?
- Do they have WorkSafeBC coverage? Why some Surrey painters don’t carry this I don’t know, but they don’t. If you didn’t already know, you can check on the WorkSafeBC website to see if they do.
- Do they have liability insurance?
- Is their quote in writing or verbal only? If it is in writing, there won’t be any disputes over what was included or how much it cost.
- Does their quote detail the work that will be performed?
- Are the paints that they will be using listed on the quote so that you can call the supplier to find out if they are good quality? Most painters in Surrey BC will use mid-grade paint as part of a standard quote. If you want higher end paint, you will often have to ask. A lot of painters are so nervous about the price of their quote that they won’t want to offer you an upgrade at a higher price.
