If you are considering hiring Surrey BC painting services, read part 2 of our two part series on choosing a painting company. In Part 1, we looked at simple rating system to help you decide which Surrey painters to hire.

Better Business Bureau Accreditation and Rating

Find out whether the Surrey painting company has longstanding accreditation and a strong Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating. Painting companies that have held continuous accreditation for many years have met BBB criteria for trust, honesty, transparency, honoring their promises to customers, responsiveness, safeguarding of privacy, and integrity. A company with longstanding BBB accreditation demonstrates a willingness to stand behind their services in a very public way. According to the BBB, ratings “represent the BBB’s opinion of how the business is likely to interact with its customers”.

Blue Chip Painting has an A+ BBB rating and has held continuous accreditation since 2007.

On a scale of 0-10 rate the painting company’s BBB accreditation and rating. Score 0 for a company without BBB accreditation. Determine the score by looking at the length of continuous accreditation and the painting service’s BBB rating. Assign the highest score to the company with several years of continuous accreditation and the highest rating.

Written Work Summaries Before Commencing Work

Does the painting company provide a written summary of work to be performed (a scope of work document) prior to commencing work?

On a scale of 0-10 rate the work summary. A company that doesn’t provide a summary would earn a 0 rating. A company that provides a clearly written summary of all work to be performed would earn a 10 rating.

Documentation of Materials and Supplies

When assessing a Surrey BC painting company, ask whether they provide detailed documentation of materials and supplies. Ask what the documentation includes. Does it list specific products used, paint colour names and codes, and costs?

On a scale of 0-10 rate the company’s materials and supplies documentation.

Liability Insurance and WorkSafe BC Coverage

Does the company have liability coverage and WorkSafe BC coverage that protects you against property damage or personal injury to their employees?

Score 0 for no coverage and 10 if the painting services company has both liability insurance and WorkSafe BC coverage.

Courteous and Friendly

In interactions with the company are they courteous and friendly? You can tell a lot about your future interactions by how they communicate with you before they are hired.

Score 0 for if they discourteous and unfriendly and 10 if they very courteous and friendly.
